Wheat markets also slid lower despite lower-than-expected production and ending stocks estimates.

The area is home to several phosphorus production facilities which supply the fertilizer industry. The Category 3 hurricane came ashore further south, sparing these plants from a direct hit.

December corn is up 1 1/2 cents per bushel, November soybeans are up 5 cents, December KC wheat is up 2 cents, December Chicago wheat is up 2 1/4 cents and December Minneapolis wheat is down 3/4 cent.
Cattle turned higher Thursday after initial pressure, eliminating the losses of Wednesday. Steady to higher cash cattle trade developed, giving traders confidence to buy into the market. Hogs had support from traders who felt confident demand would remain strong and prices higher.
